Some DJs play Halloween. Danny Tenaglia owns it. On Saturday, October 24, the Grammy-nominated house legend brings his Boo Yourself party back to New York for the first time since its original Pacha NYC-era run, taking over the Room at Superior Ingredients in Brooklyn for an extended Halloween session.

Tenaglia and New York club culture are hard to pull apart. Born in Brooklyn, he built his name in the nineties with a Saturday night residency at the superclub Twilo. His remixes, Madonna's "Human Nature" among them, carried his sound far beyond the dancefloor, and a Grammy nomination for his remix of Depeche Mode's "I Feel Loved" cemented a career built on pressure, percussion and patience.

Boo Yourself has always been one of his signature traditions. Its original run came in the Pacha NYC years in Hell's Kitchen, and the party made its name on costumes and on people who show up to move, not to be seen. As Secret NYC put it, it is one of Tenaglia's signature Halloween traditions, back in New York for the first time since that era. It was never about the spectacle around the DJ. It was about the hours after midnight when the room locks in and Tenaglia starts digging.

The Long Set

The October 24 edition is billed as a long dancefloor journey rather than a short headline slot. Doors open at 10pm at 74 Wythe Avenue, and the night leaves Tenaglia room to roam through the sounds of his marathon nights. Classic house. Heavy percussion. Tribal rhythms. Disco. Techno. Soulful cuts and left-field throwbacks, with hours for the set to build.

That is the key difference between a Tenaglia night and almost everything else on the Halloween calendar. Most holiday parties are built for turnover. Costumes in, photos out, next room. Boo Yourself asks for the opposite. Come early, stay late, let the set build. Gray Area presents the night, and the pitch tells you everything about the intended register. This is a music night that happens to fall near Halloween, not a Halloween party with a DJ attached.

Tickets start just above $31 on DICE, which for a Tenaglia extended set in a Brooklyn room is close to a public service. The Room at Superior Ingredients keeps things tight and focused, a far cry from the mega-club scale of his Twilo years but arguably closer to where his sound hits hardest. His signature track "Music Is the Answer" remains the mission statement. Decades on, in a Brooklyn room, the answer has not changed.

A Living Lineage

There is a throughline here worth naming. Tenaglia belongs to the New York tradition of the DJ as shaman rather than entertainer. His Twilo residency carried that torch through the superclub era. Boo Yourself, returning now, is that lineage asserting itself in a Brooklyn room in 2026.

The Halloween calendar is crowded. Refuge is running a four-day marathon across town, and the big rooms all have their costumed spectaculars. But for the heads, the ones who measure a night in hours rather than photos, October 24 is circled. Some rooms you visit. This one you submit to, and here the darkness has a kick drum.

Come early, stay late, let the set build.

Tenaglia is 65 and still playing like the night is the point. Because for him, it always was. Boo Yourself.
