No Day but Today, Rent's 30th Brings Harris and Zegler to West 46th
Taye Diggs rejoins the original company tonight at the Richard Rodgers, where more than 60 performers sing on the Hamilton set for a $30 livestream

Rent's 30th anniversary concert plays the Richard Rodgers Theatre on West 46th Street tonight, Monday, October 26, at 8 p.m., with Neil Patrick Harris, Rachel Zegler and a returning Taye Diggs added to Idina Menzel and the original company.
The house sold out weeks ago. Everyone else gets a laptop seat. A $30 livestream runs until 11 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, according to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which produces the night as a benefit.
When we first wrote about the concert on October 12, in our story on the reunion, the lineup was still filling in. It has filled in.
Who Joined the Lineup?
The cast passed 60 performers with a batch of additions announced October 19, BroadwayWorld reports.
Three more members of the original Broadway company signed on. They are Taye Diggs, Timothy Britten Parker and Byron Utley. They join Menzel, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Fredi Walker-Browne and the rest of the 1996 cast announced earlier.
The new alumni and guests include Tony winners Neil Patrick Harris and Norbert Leo Butz, Tony nominees Will Chase, Eden Espinosa and Michael McElroy, and Wilson Cruz, Tracie Thoms, Telly Leung, Tamyra Gray and Rachel Zegler. Aaron Tveit and Jordan Fisher were already on the bill, along with Tony winner Natalie Venetia Belcon, Nicholas Christopher, Merle Dandridge, Jose Llana, Jai Rodriguez and Ephraim Sykes, per BroadwayWorld.
The Broadway Cares event page now lists more than 60 names. The outlets' cast lists do not match name for name, and the producers say performers are subject to change.
It has filled in.
Why Is It on the Hamilton Set?
The Richard Rodgers is Hamilton's home, and the concert streams live from that set, BroadwayWorld reports. One Monday night, one borrowed stage.
Michael Greif, who directed the original, directs again. Marlies Yearby returns as choreographer, per Broadway Cares. Tim Weil leads original band members Kenny Brescia, Jeff Potter and Daniel A. Weiss, with Steve Gelfand.
Broadway Cares produces the night with Andy Jones, founder of Baseline Theatrical. Music Theatre International provides the license, and The League of Live Stream Theater handles the stream, Playbill reports.
Who Warmed Up on Television?
Wilson Jermaine Heredia, who won a Tony for the original production, sang "I'll Cover You" on NBC's Today with fellow original company member Marcus Paul James in the run-up to the concert, Playbill reports.
Playbill recaps the history. Rent opened Off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in 1996 and moved to the Nederlander Theatre that year. It played 5,123 performances over 12 years and closed on September 7, 2008. Jonathan Larson, who wrote it, died at 35, the night before the first preview at the Workshop.
What to Know Before You Watch
The livestream pre-show starts at 7 p.m. Eastern, BroadwayWorld reports. Troy Iwata and Jay Armstrong Johnson host and come back at intermission with backstage interviews. Ricki Lake anchors the red carpet.
The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets for the $30 stream are at broadwaycares.org/rent30. The Gates Foundation will match every livestream ticket, up to $525,600, a figure fans will know from "Seasons of Love." ViiV Healthcare is the presenting sponsor.
There is no way into the room now. BroadwayWorld reports that 24 in-person box seats went by digital lottery, which closed October 20. Broadway Cares warns that it cannot guarantee tickets from third-party sellers.
If you miss it, Broadway Cares already has its next big night on the calendar. Its site lists Red Bucket Follies for December 7 and 8, with dates subject to change.
The show's best-known song counts a year in minutes. Tonight it gets one more Monday on 46th Street, and a replay that runs until 11 p.m. Tuesday.
