Second Act, Matthew Morrison Returns to Just in Time on Tuesday
The Glee star takes Bobby Darin back for three weeks at Circle in the Square on West 50th Street as Jeremy Jordan plays his last show Sunday

Bobby Darin changes hands again on Tuesday night at Circle in the Square.
Matthew Morrison returns to Just in Time on October 20 for a three-week limited engagement, Playbill reported when the news broke on September 30. He takes over from Jeremy Jordan, who plays his final performance on Sunday, October 18.
A Return to the Role
This is Morrison's second turn as Darin, and the first one was this spring. Broadway.com's Jonah de Forest reported in February that Morrison would play the role from April 1 through 19, after Jonathan Groff, who created it, wrapped his run on March 29. Jordan was set to start on April 21.
Playbill's September announcement describes Morrison's earlier run as "last year." The dated Broadway.com report says otherwise, and we follow it. The first stint was April 2026.
Sunday is a double goodbye. Carrie St. Louis also gives her final performance as Sandra Dee on October 18, per Playbill. Whitney Leavitt of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives takes over that role on December 1, as announced earlier, and interim casting has not been revealed.
In His Words
Morrison talked through that first run with de Forest, and the interview reads like a statement of purpose for this one too.
He called the part a rare one. "There honestly aren't roles like this that come around very often," he told Broadway.com. He also knows exactly what kind of performer it suits. "I'm a crooner, I'm a song-and-dance man," he said. "So I feel like this show really fits me like a glove."
Following Groff was new territory. "I'm used to being on the ground floor and creating," Morrison said, before adding that stepping into "Jonathan's very, very big shoes" was "such an honor because he is a friend."
"This doesn't feel like I have to prove anything. It feels more like a thank you to the community." Matthew Morrison to Broadway.com
The short run was the point. Morrison has two children, who were four and eight at the time of the interview, and he told Broadway.com that a year-long contract did not fit this stage of their lives. "When they offered this to me for three weeks, I just jumped at it," he said.
He found a model on a costume-fitting wall, a poster of Angela Lansbury from a three-week run of her own. "Angela was just kind of shining down on me and giving me inspiration for these three weeks," he said.
The building has history for him too. Broadway.com notes that Circle in the Square is where Morrison performed in his second Broadway show, The Rocky Horror Show.
The Show
Just in Time is a Bobby Darin biomusical developed by Alex Timbers from an original concept by Ted Chapin, per Playbill. Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver wrote the book, and Shannon Lewis choreographs. Derek McLane designed the sets, Catherine Zuber the costumes, Justin Townsend the lighting and Peter Hylenski the sound. Groff is among the producers.
Morrison is best known as Will Schuester on Glee, which ran six seasons. He starred in the original Broadway productions of Hairspray, The Light in the Piazza and Finding Neverland, Broadway.com says.
